If you are keen to learn a new language, the first thing to remember is that it needs your hundred percent attention. Even if you find it easy at first, do not become overconfident as at some point it will become tougher and you will not be prepared for it. One of the most popular language courses taken is that to learn how to speak Spanish as it is often considered the most useful after English. There is no need for you to join a class with a large number of young people if you feel uncomfortable – just enrol in an adult language class. From what I know, schools offer crash courses in different languages during school break, especially during summer.

To make you able to speak Spanish, some companies also offer crash courses in the language where you could also get a job, as soon as you finish your learning. In case you do not have any time, many bookshops sell dictionaries, which can also help you learn the language. You could also avail several self-help books, which contain Spanish phrases and sentences with simultaneous English translations written at the bottom. The Internet could also come to your rescue as Google and Yahoo offer lots of free tutorials. Teaching your self how to pronounce a word or reading a language is not the end of learning, though speaking Spanish should not be a problem since it is more based on phonetic. But, you can listen using Internet, too and there are webcasts and podcasts available and what’s great is that some sites will allow you to download it, all you have to do is just type your fingers away!
But, it is much easier to learn if you really listen, don’t just go with the books as there are songs and movies and telenovelas you can always listen or watch. Pictures are a great help since when you learn a Spanish word, you remember it better when you know what it appears like. If you have the financial resources as well as the time, there is no better way to learn a language than to be amidst people who communicate in that language all the time. Be familiar with their habitat and culture and in no time, you would be speaking Spanish.
Do not tax your self too much while learning, as the more tensed you are the more frustrated you would get. If you visit a Spanish speaking country, you would very naturally pick up the finer nuances of the language and speak like the Spaniards. It’s a big no-no and you will just sound funny if you do that but do not be afraid of making mistakes because when you are a beginner, what do you expect? Learning is a non-stop affair throughout your life and languages can be part of this process so if you treat it as fun, you are likely to at least enjoy yourself while you are studying.
